On 04-04-1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated at 6:05pm at the age of 39. However, fifty years later, his dream is a reality and his legacy lives on as the communities of color continue the fight for equality, education and peace. In an effort to reflect, restore, redirect then reignite Dr. King’s mission and dream, a collaboration of concerned citizens are calling the nation to action on 04-04-2018.

The observance at Shepherd Park will include a sound stage featuring guest spekaers, faith leaders and entertainment. The mission of this event is to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and restore strength in what is currently a “fractured” nation. Through unity, love and empowerment we will encourage paticipants to ACT NOW thtrough pledging to redirect their service efforts toward social justic issues that impact underserved populations.

Those issues include:

  1. Economic Equity
  2. Affordable Housing
  3. Education
  4. Gun Safety
  5. Immigration

Since Dr. King once said, “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve,” we are challenging people across the nation to collectively pledge over 1,000 volunteer hours with our registered organizations. In addition, we are asking temples and institutions with bell towers to “Let Freedom Ring” at 6:05pm ET for 39 seconds as we observe a moment of silence. Simultaneously, people across the nation will GO LIVE at 6:05PM on all social media channels to bring awareness to this historical moment.

This event is free and open to the public and will be recorded and streamed live on FaceBook and other media channels.
